Resolved Question: How is this story I am writing so far?
I have been writing a story for a couple days, and want to know what you guys think. I am not done with it, I still have over half to finish. This is just so far:
The Water Dog
The very beginning
Where do I start writing about this crazy, lovable dog? Max is only 6 months old, but has given us moments that we cherish for a lifetime. We decided on getting a dog shortly after out 14 year old Australian Shepherd, Martin passed away. I had recieved text messages with pictures of Max in the shelter, along with many other dogs. My dad was the first one to fall in love with him. We went to the shelter, and looked at all the dogs, until we came across the one and only, Max.
I knew he was the one. I looked at all the other dogs in the shelter. But I kept going back to Max, watching him closely, holding him, and letting him lick my face wet. He was definatly our dog.
My family and I were scheduled for a vacation to go to Florida for a week. We put Max on hold, and were planning to pick him up a few days after we would get home. It was hard to have fun at Disney World, Epcot, and Cocoa Beach while I knew there was a dog waiting to be picked up, but it made it all more special to wait. We actually ended up picking Max up a day early. My brother and I talked my mom into driving down on a Tuesday after work. We brought a collar, leash, and the kennel we carry the cat in to go to the vet. The only other thing we needed was Max.
We picked Max up, and were on our way home. Going from the back seat, to the front, from me, to my brother TJ. After about 30 minutes, he finally fell asleep in my brothers lap, on my arm. Now I am in the back seat, and my brother is in the front. How is that possible? I don’t know but Max did fall asleep. He was a tiny pup, and he is getting bigger and bigger every day. I could pick up Max, and carry him around like a baby. Now I don’t even try. He’s got 4 legs to walk around on, no need to pick him up.
I hope you enjoy reading about the many moments I have shared with Max in the little time I have known him already. He may look like the worlds worst dog, Marley from the book and movie “Marley and Me”, but we are glad he doesn’t act like him. Atleast not in front of other people. Max is a lovable dog, and will do just about anything to make you laugh. I mean, how many of your dogs do Talladega across the couch whenyou come home? Or jump through the slots on the deck? Enjoy reading about the adventures I am facing with Max.
The Water Dog himself
Max is a 6 month old Yellow Labrador Retriever Mix. The last time we weighed Max, he was 45 lbs. Now you are probably thinking we chose the name Max because it is a pretty popular dog name. Wrong! We named him after the chassis of a Sprint Car. My brother races Sprint Cars, and his chassis is the Maxim. So, we named our dog Max. And you are probably thinking about the title, and why it’s called “The Water Dog” Well here’s why.
When we got Max, it was was winter, there was snow on the ground. At first he hated it, and was like a cat not wanting to get his paws wet. Then he got used to it, and did not enjoy it when it started raining. My dad was outside with a hose, and Max seemed a little interested in it. He kinked it so not much water was running through, and Max drank from the hose. Now we leave it on full blast, and Max tries to catch the water as it smacks him in the face.
Max is a baby. He loves sleeping with us, and is always by us. He whines everytime we leave the house, because he is alone. I don’t know what he is going to do when racing season starts. I think we should take him to the track with us, but my mom and dad don’t think so. He jumps on my bed on the days I don’t have school, and sleeps with me until I get up.
One thing Max loves besides food is touromenting the cat. My cat, 8 years, just wishes to be left alone, with no dog following his every move. The cat goes out, the dog goes out. Cat wants back in, dog wants back in. Quinto (my cat) swats, hisses, and meows everytime Max gets too close. But Max doesn’t get it.
First Days
The first couple of nights with Max were horrible. Peeing in the house and barking and howling in his crate were the most irratating. Crate training was the easy thing. Now we just say Max, crate! and he walks right in. Potty training took a little bit longer, but he now knows to go to the door when he needs to go. Sometimes he gets a little excited, and doesn’t make it all the way to the grass, so there is a puddle on the sidewalk.
I was looking through some pictures a couple days ago, and I was holding Max in my arms. I remember he was 19 lbs. which is funny, because my brother’s Sprint Car number is 19. Now he is about 35 lbs.
Max also couldn’t jump up on anything that was too high for him. Max tried to jump up on my bed in my room, which is right outside my mom’s office/desk area, and he coudn’t. He would try to get a running start, but still missed. Now when he w
Whoops I see one. He is 45lbs, not 35lbs. (Last chapter)
Ceylon- This is happening =) Max is my dog. Lol. I just wanted to write about him, because I just finished a book about a guy and his dog.
This is adding onto the story. I didn’t see it cut off:
Max also couldn’t jump up on anything that was too high for him. Max tried to jump up on my bed in my room, which is right outside my mom’s office/desk area, and he coudn’t. He would try to get a running start, but still missed. Now when he wants to get up on something, he does a Kangaroo hop, and there he is.
So far he hasn’t chewed on anything, but the internet cord that goes to TJ’s room. TJ was pretty mad at him, but Max didn’t know any better. Max doesn’t chew on anything he isn’t supposed to. Maybe it’s because he has so many toys to choose from. Sometimes he picks little things off the floor, that I don’t even know why he would want to get. (Paper, Q-Tips from the garbage, peices of fuzz) He finds Q-Tips very entertaining to put in his mouth. Then, 45 minutes later, not thinking, he licks our face and gives us doggy-kisses. I’m a little disgusted now, but he will lick my face at least one more time tonight.
Open Question: What to bring on my vacation to Orlando, FL?
Need some advices and ideas what to bring on my vacation to Orlando, FL. I am visiting Sea World, all 4 parks at Walt Disney, Universal, and Medieval Times dinner show. I am very much excited to go to this trip. I am leaving in the next 2 weeks. Should I pack a day before or during that week? I just don’t want to miss a thing at home and plum forget it.
I know I have plenty of money on hand to go and plus my camera is ready to go. Just need to know if anyone has been those locations that could give me some ideas.
Another thing, what is the newest rides there at the parks, sea world, and universal? what is the awesome rides that you would recommend?
how much is the fast past in universal? i believe its there, but not for sure. just want to skip the lines and go right at it to the rides.
thanks for all your help. just need help!!
Resolved Question: Animal Kingdom at WDW?
I am getting to take my next Disney vacation… actually one month from today I will be there!! I love Disney and the parks. We stay in the campground every time, and it’s like coming home when we get there. I don’t know if we should bother with Animal Kingdom, though. We have hoppers, but have had bad experiences in the past there.
The first time we went to Animal Kingdom was August 2003. We went on everything, and were there from the time the park opened until we had done everything. We saw 0 animals on the safari and waited in line for 3+ hours for the rapids… didn’t even get a drop of water on us. The conservation area was lamer than my local forest preserve nature center.
We went back in May 2007 when the weather was a little cooler than August. We thought maybe it was a fluke there were no animals out. Same thing. 0 animals on the safari, long wait times even with a fastpass and no improvement with other areas. We made the 2nd trip back there specifically for Expedition Everest, which did not live up to our expectations.
What has been your experience with Animal Kingdom? It seems people either love the park or hate it.
