Arizona is a great place for RV travel. RVers particularly appreciate the high number of National Parks and Recreation Areas peppered throughout the state. Arizona has such mild winters that RVers can enjoy the parks and rec areas all year long. Pedata RV Center offers a list of hot spots in honor of July being National Parks and Recreation Area month.

RVers love AZ National Parks and Recreation Areas:

1. Grand Canyon: The Grand Canyon is located north of Flagstaff. Any tourist headed to Arizona has heard of the Grand Canyon. Almost every visitor headed to the US has heard of the Grand Canyon. It’s one of the natural wonders of the world. At one point it is 18 miles wide and it’s one mile deep. It’s the ultimate Arizona travel destination.

2. Glen Canyon Nat. Rec. Area: This recreational area includes over 1.2 million acres. It offers extensive opportunities to indulge in both back country and water based recreation. Glen Canyon runs from Lees Ferry (AZ) to the Orange Cliffs (UT). Geologic wonders and scenic vistas abound.

3. Lake Mead Nat. Rec. Area: RVers love this area all year round. It appeals to boaters, swimmers, fishermen/women, wildlife and/or plant life photographers, sightseers, hikers and more. The desert landscape offers many opportunities to experience native plant and animal life in its natural environment.

4. Petrified Forest Nat. Park: The world’s largest forest of petrified wood (and one of the most colorful). It provides great views of native plant life, native animal life, fossils up to 200+ million years old, Painted Desert, historic structures, archeological sites and more. It appeals to visitors on many different levels.

5. Saguaro National Park: Known for its enormous cacti dotting the horizon and the amazing views of the Arizona sunset this park area is the perfect place for travelers to experience the iconic giant saguaro, symbol of the American West. Even though they are a symbol of the West they are actually only native to a very small region. Impressive saguaro forests are protected within the park.

And the five listed above are in no way the only options in Arizona for avid RVers. RVers can take advantage of the many additional National Monuments, National Historic Trails and Parks. They are definitely a favorite. And there are so many that visitors and residents alike almost never run out of options.
