Las Vegas is a city that started from the harsh desert sands to develop into the entertainment capital of the world. Casinos, music shows, magic shows, world class restaurants and so much more. To make an attempt to sum up all of the entertainment options available in Las Vegas in a short article is an impossible task, but it?s not challenging to provide some impression of the fascinating and exciting place that is the city of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Visitors to Las Vegas need to understand something about the layout of the city. Through its heart runs Las Vegas Boulevard. Commonly called ‘The Strip’, this street is roughly parallel to U.S. 15, the Las Vegas Freeway, and is the central spine of what most visitors regard as Vegas. The Strip is where you will find the famous casinos, the famed shows, and all of the best restaurants. It is a noisy, crazy, bustling place in the heart of the city which runs for roughly 4 miles. The largest hotels, casinos and resorts in the world are located on the Strip. In fact, 19 of the 25 largest hotels in the world are located within the 4 mile boundary of the strip. More than 67,000 rooms are available in hotels in this relatively small area.
Starting in the south with Mandalay Bay, the Strip offers guests a luxury hotel experience in a resort setting which hosts some of the most magnificent events to come to Las Vegas. The adjacent Mandalay Bay Events Center frequently hosts boxing, Ultimate Fighting Championship events, and large scale awards shows such as the Latin Grammy Awards in 2007 and 2009.
Mandalay Bay?s sister properties can be found just to the north. The Luxor and Excalibur are resort casinos with many gaming and entertainment options. The Luxor was home to the Blue Man Group performance art show from 2000 to 2005, though that show has since moved up the strip to the Venetian. Popular Broadway musicals also make their way through the Luxor?s massive theater space.
The MGM Grand can be found on the opposite side of the Strip, linked by pedestrian bridges. This resort hosts a number of diverse entertainment options including a glass sided lion habitation within the casino. Cirque du Soleil maintains a show at the MGM Grand, and a replica of New York?s Studio 54 nightclub is located in the hotel.
Farther up the strip, the famous casinos and show venues can be discovered. Bellagio, Caesar?s Palace, the Flamingo, Mirage, Treasure Island, and many more present different shows on a rotating basis.
But just because Las Vegas is a city full of hotels and resorts, don?t believe that it?s the only way to stay. Vacation rentals can be enjoyed just off the strip. Condos, vacation homes, and other solutions are widely vacant. The fact is, Las Vegas is legendary for the Las Vegas Strip, but away from the Boulevard, it is a vital and lively city in its own rite. That means that there exists a wide variety of places to dwell, things to do, and ways to enjoy your time in Fabulous Las Vegas.
