The beautiful beaches of the Gulf of Mexico can be accessed at many points along the Gulf Coast. Florida is one long beach around the entire peninsula. About the only places that don’t have great beaches are the island keys. It seems a little weird, but the keys are not the best beach destinations but they are great for other water sports and activities. Fishing, skiing, the traditional way and the jet version, scuba diving and sailing are all great activities while in the keys. The water is beautiful and the weather is warm and inviting.
There are many destinations that can provide you with some great vacation fun. If you go to the southern most point of the state you can visit Hemingway’s house where there are six toed cats wandering about. The Atlantic side has the infamous Miami Beach,and on the North there is Cocoa Beach. Both are tourist destinations, however they will provide you with a great time no matter what kind of beach fun you are looking for.
Although the beaches are great, Florida also has many other great attractions. To start with you have Disney and other themed parks located in or around the Orlando area. On the east coast you can visit Daytona Beach then across the state along the Gulf of Mexico coast is Tampa and Clearwater. Both are great places for families, couples and friends.
If you are visiting the Tampa area you will find there is never a dull moment. Tampa is full of fine dining establishments, sporting events and theme parks. From there you just drive across the bridge and you are in the Clearwater/St. Petersburg area where you can enjoy a lot of fun and some of the greatest beached in all of Florida.
Just south of St. Pete is Sarasota and Ft. Myers. In these areas you can find many great seafood restaurants and fine arts. A great place to visit in this area is the Ringling Museum which houses some of the greatest artwork anywhere. There are so many wonderful places in Florida to visit that you may want to rent a car and spend a week or two just traveling around visiting each and everyone of them.
