Open Question: People (India) who say that god comes into their bodies so they have power to bless?
I was taken to a lady near Delhi who claimed to be a baba. She claimed that spirits all gods including Sai baba, lord Jesus, Hindu gods, the Sikh gurus came into her and during that time she would go into a trance. With that she claimed that she possessed supernatural power to bless and rid her devotees of their sufferings. I have been unable to understand this person. She also accepted expensive gifts from her devotees upon their insistence, though initially refusing them (which looked like a very superficial refusal to me from her body language). This was not the end of the story. Preceding this incident, there was a fatal car accident where in I was traveling with her along with some devotees of hers. The accident was fatal and involved a police case. At the site of the accident, this so called baba ji (lady) suddenly started making a scene that she felt very anxious and wanted to be taken back immediately to her house. How can someone who claims to be a protector and redeemer of her devotees flee her devotees at the time they really need protection of her supernatural powers? Later after sorting out the entire case (which was done entirely by my relatives and myself), when we went back to her home, she gave a huge proclamation of how her supernatural powers helped them get out of a very complicated and fatal situation. They claimed, it was her KRIPA. They were saved only because she was there with them because actually they were destined for something even worse (what worse…she didn’t describe) and I should be eternally grateful to her for saving my relatives lives.

She also makes her devotees buy insurance policies as her husband is an insurance agent.

Can someone can throw some light on this if people actually exist? Are they for real or conning people with psychological tools of fear?

I do not mean to hurt anyone’s sentiments or disregard anyone. I just seek more understanding.

I believe in god – a higher power and respect and revere all religions, however, I cannot seem accept certain category of people claiming to be over and above other people. There is an almighty power and we are people, irrespective of our color, religion, caste and creed. We all deserve to be respected equally.

I believe if anyone deserves any greater respect and regard should be done so on the bases of their behavior as a human being and purity of their thoughts, values and actions.

Nobody can claim to be god.

Request anyone who can throw light on my question, I’d be most grateful.
