Open Question: Young & Confused..please help?
Ok so I am almost 17 years old. My first young love was with my now ex Nick. We met when we were just 13 years old. Yes, we were young but it was real. We spent a lot of time together but also had our own things so we tried to hang out as much as we could. We lived on the same block which was nice. We were young so it wasn’t sexual in any way, ya know just cute first boyfriend/girlfriend stuff (kisses,hugs,presents). Our families were so super close, so when we were 14 and 1/2 they invited me on vacation with them for 2 weeks in the summer. That was the first time I had ever been with him 24/7 every sing day so we almost got sick of eachother. When we came back his parents revealed to him that they were moving to another town. So, we had a mutual breakup deciding it was the best thing since he was moving but we would still remain friends. We both cried the day we broke up and it was so sad watching him leave but I knew I needed to move on and c’mon I mean I was 15 but it was so hard getting over him. We promised we would keep in touch and everything. A couple weeks went by but it wasnt working out. We fought so much and just wasnt working how we thought it would. After only a month of him leaving we stopped speaking. Since he moved only a couple towns away I heard he was with someone who I knew. I could not stand it. My heart was immediately broken. I was so angry and bitter but I still loved him.. months and months went by I dated a guy which was short lived then I found an older guy when I was 16 and he was 20. He was sweet and treated me well. I was finally happy after all that time. After only a few months of dating I hear Nick breaks up with his girlfriend. I was somewhat please bc it was not anywhere close to how long we were for. I immediately thought, ok well now he will just date someone else, no big deal right? well I was wrong. In the winter I went to my school basketball game who happened to be playing his. I tried to avoid him as much as possible but he kept staring at me. I guess was approachable cause I was just with friends and not with my bf. He finally walked over and hugged me. In that moment I closed my eyes and feelings came rushing back. We talked just like old times and really meant we would stay friends this time. We were a little older and we matured. Little did I know he constantly kept inviting me places and kept using the “its ok were just friends” excuse. After a while I found myself texting & calling Nick more than my own bf. Still though, I continued seeing my bf cause I couldnt hurt him and just run back to Nick. Nick could not just come back into my life that easily. The more and more we hung out the more and more I got the feeling he really wanted me back. Then one day, I had proof. Nick played guitar and always wrote songs. He used to sing to me all the time when we dated. One day he invited to the park and had a blanket laid down. I was about to leave until he grabbed my hand and started singing. He sang, “I dont want to lose her, dont want to let her go” over and over again. I ran home crying. I was so confused. Nick was my first love but I couldnt hurt my bf but the heart wants what the heart wants so I ended up with bf. Nick and I have so much history together and we really care for eachother. We both agreed it was a terrible thing for us to stop talking to eachother for a whole year and we regretted EVER being out of eachothers lives. It was amazing to me that after all that time we went back to eachother. We tried seeing other people but we just couldnt move on. After a short time I got back with Nick and it was awesome at first. Unfortunately a lot had changed and Nick was now playing club basketball and traveling a lot plus I was so busy myself. Plus living in different towns did not help. He wasn’t really making a full 100% effort to pay attention to me. I know he had no choice bc of basketball and not getting to see me. Its not that he didnt want to but he wasnt communciating and that is key in a relationship. I also was comparing my previous relationship who was a 20 yr old who was more experienced in relationships and treated me with so much attention. Again, we started arguing and fighting and decided to be single. I jumped so quickly from my bf to Nick it was too soon. I broke up with my bf in June of 09 and 2 weeks later went with Nick. I was definitely over my bf but I just needed time. We stopped talking this whole summer from June to about Sept. but during summer started talking to a guy I met from camp and he is 18. We hooked up but it was nothing completely serious. After camp we stayed in touch and hang out once in a while, when we can. Since this past July when Nick and I decided to be single, Nick has not even tried to see anyone else. We finally decided we did not want to go through what we went through last year so we decided to make up. It’s so scary cause with Nick we are like too much in love what we either date or dont talk. We cant be just
