Open Question: Help with essay needed?
Hi i wrote an essay and i need to ask someone to check for me my vocabulary and if everythink is ok, if someone want to help plese let me now i will send you my essay.
English has become a more and more important language in the world. This is because we need a universal language to communicate with other people when living in the global village. Moreover, English is the international language of diplomacy, business, science, technology, medicine, tourism. The reason most multinational companies ask their employees to speak English is because English is the language most used for world trade at the moment. It is spoken frequently especially in developed countries such as The United States of America and The Republic of China. This is an certain process of globalisation.English is a definitely global language crossing many international outlines. In fact, the English language is so popular,it is spoken in more than a hundred countries and has more than a million words.English has entered high status world-wide because of different factors, as the mother tongue of millions of people all over the world, as the language that millions of children learn at school and the language that is used in international relations, for global communication and as the major media language. The importance of a global language has become major, in some contexts such as communication, e.g. international web-pages on the Internet, English is the only language used.
Even though there are many adnantages and disadvantages of having a English as a global languages.
First positive aspect is that by learning English, you can get a better job, have a better career but more importantly, keep up-to-date with world events and developments.
Another advantage is a great cause of a common language in our world .The changes that have taken place in the world during the last century are colossal. Technological development has made communication and traveling all over the world easily available, and that applies not only to a number of special citizens of society, but to everyone from high to low. With a simple “click” on the computer one can quickly meet and communicate with a person from another continent. Furthermore, international cooperation in business activities on a state level, as well as on a company level, has never been as popular and intense as it is today. Today, the number of international organizations cooperating in globe from health care and humanitarian aid to technological development and business is constantly increasing. In our modern way of communication and cooperation an international language has become a necessity.
Secondly Crystal said that the “more a community is linguistically mixed; the less it can rely on individuals to ensure communication between different groups” (Crystal 2003 p.11). Consequently linguistically mixed communities, as well as the global community, are spending large sums of money on translations and translation in order to reach its citizens. A global language known and spoken by everybody would easily lower these costs, and the spared money could be used in other important areas instead, for example in humanitarian aid. Many international organizations find it necessary that all people involved speak English, since the translation expenses would be too high. According to Crystal half the budget of an international organization could easily get swallowed up in translation costs if there was a lack of a common language (Crystal 2003 p.12).
There are also a number of disadvantages
One disadvantage of English as a global language Acording to Crystal (2003 p.14-15) is that A global language might cultivate an elite class with native speakers, who take advantage of the possibility to think and work quickly in their mother-tongue. If this was the case they might manipulate it to their advantage at the expense of those who has another language as their mother-tongue and in this way create a linguistic gap between people.
Another point against the global dominance of the English language is bad news for world literature, according to Jacques Mélitz(1999) Because if the English language dominates world publishing, very few translations except those from English to other languages will be commercially viable. As a result, virtually only those writing in English will have a chance of reaching a world audience and achieving ‘classic status’.
A final argument against English as a global language, is the risk of linguistic convenience. Davis Crystal claims that the attitude of “the archetypal British or American tourist who travels the world assuming that everyone speaks English, and that it is somehow the fault of the local people if they do not” (Crystal 2003 p.17) is a typical sign of linguistic complacency. The presence and expansion of English as a global language has served as a reason behind the lack of motivation among English speaking people to learn forei
Resolved Question: Why is the New World Order so bad?
I KNOW THE NWO DOESN’T EXIST BUT JUST GO ALONG WITH THIS.
Think about it; if there were no borders in the world people from poor countries could work in rich countries, there would be wider opportunities for traveling, there would be no wars because we would be one big country and all the laws would be the same in the world. The European union was a wonderful idea and if it wasn’t for it Europe would be a battlefield and the African union should make things better in Africa.; more people could live better lives. So whats so bad about the new world order?
If the world is unified, we will be one people, there will be no culture, no religion(the whole world will be atheist), no racism, no wars, or other nonsense, and we can finally focus our attention away from making weapons? and into discovering new medicines for Cancer, AIDS, mad cow disease, and other incurable diseases maybe even wipe out every disease on Earth.
We would also explore space and learn new things..I guess countries will have no culture or religious beliefs but I’d be willing to take that for peace among humans, cooperation, and understanding.
Chip implants would wipe out fraud and identity theft and help track down abducted children.
Everyone in the UK supports this.
Resolved Question: Which is the best of these 2 British Universities?
im planning to go to one on these 2 universities in the UK, and i wanted to know which one of these universities is better and WHY? Im planning to study Business Management (Bachelors Degree)
